Ingredients
  

Cake Batter

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour or almond flour for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Strawberry Filling

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Frosting & Decoration

  • 1 batch buttercream or cream cheese frosting
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish
  • Optional: mint leaves edible flowers, powdered sugar

Instructions
 

Prep & Mix Batter

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your springform pan.
  • In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to butter mixture, starting & ending with dry.
  • Stir in vanilla extract last.

Prepare Strawberry Filling

  • Mix strawberries with sugar and lemon juice. Let sit 15 minutes to macerate.

Bake Cake

  • Pour batter into pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan 5 minutes, then transfer to rack to cool completely.

Assemble Cake

  • Slice cake horizontally into layers.
  • Spread strawberry filling generously between layers.
  • Frost outside with buttercream or cream cheese frosting.

Decorate

  • Garnish top with fresh strawberries, mint, and powdered sugar if desired.
  • Chill briefly before serving.
